
Beekeeping Workshops 2025
Do you want to keep your own honey bees? Don’t know where to start? This workshop for the beginner beekeeper will help you to understand where to start, what equipment is needed and learn the basic knowledge of the inner workings of the hive and its residents, the honey bee.
Join beekeeper Denise Graham of Lady D’s for a 3 hour (she will be available afterwards for any additional questions) in class workshop, she will guide you through the basics of becoming a beekeeper.

The life of a honey bee and the rolls they play in nature

The dangers they face inside and outside the hive
We will provide a physical copy of the days information.
We recommend you bring a note pad and pen, water and a snack
When: Saturday March 8 or Saturday March 15 from 9am to 12pm

Want to learn even more!! We’ve added hands-on classes!
After completing the in-class beginners’ workshop, expand your knowledge and join Denise in one of the bee yards located in Tiny. There you will learn to care for your own hive, hands-on! Personalize an empty hive box (provided at the end of the beginner course), paint your box to be distinguishable from the others. Honey bees will recognize the pattern you provided on the box (flowers, shapes) as their home.

Preparing your hive for winter – September, Oct
Meet as a group on the second Saturday of May, June, July, Sept or Oct. Dates may change due to weather. Spend 1.5 hours learning more about the life inside the hive and the responsibilities of the beekeeper. Learn how to conduct a proper hive inspection, and see the monthly changes developing in your hive. This hands-on experience will provide you with the knowledge to care for your own honey bees in your own backyard, with confidence.
Workshop hives will remain the property of Bonnie Bee Honey. All equipment and necessary products (meds, supplements, mite treatments etc.) will be provided by Bonnie Bee Honey.
Participants will be responsible for their own suit, veil and gloves. Hive tool is optional.
